Sony Ericsson Teases New Xperia Smartphone for CES

I’m such a sucker for teasers. I can’t help it, especially when it’s done in such a tasteful and sophisticated manner. Sony Ericsson’s just released a teaser picture on its Faceboook page (can’t believe these are the norm now) and it looks like the emphasis is on the next-gen Xperia smartphone’s camera.

Going clockwise from the top left, shot one is a photo of a dedicated camera shutter button, some kind of port (HDMI?), photo and video modes, and a camera lens with HD.

Rumors point to the device being either called the Xperia Arc HD/Nozomi or Ion (recently trademarked by Sony Ericsson). GSMArena had the scoop on the device last month.

If the device turns out to be the one you see below, specs look to include a 4.3-inch display with (1280×720) resolution), 1.5GHz dual-core processor, 16/32GB internal storage (no microSD card), 12-megapixel camera with autofocus, 1GB of RAM, an HDMI port and Android 2.3.5 (maybe Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich?).

Not a big fan of the convex back and prefer the concave design of the Xperia Arc, but it’s probably for ergonomic comfort – so it sits better in the palm of your hand.
